In 2013, the Worcester County Education Foundation was established to provide a perpetual funding resource that could be used to ensure that each student had equal access to a high-level education, enabling them to function in today’s digital college environment and to compete in new and emerging job markets. In the years since WCEF was established, it has grown and evolved, raising in excess of 1 million dollars to support Worcester County Public Schools. Together with other community organizations, WCEF has helped to ensure each and every Worcester County Public School student has a device and equal access to the internet in their homes, despite the economic and geographical boundaries they face.
Mission
Our mission is to enhance achievement, both inside and outside of the classroom, and prepare each Worcester County Public School student for current and future success through the effective utilization of innovation, relationships, and resources.
Needs
In classrooms across the country you will find teachers having to use their own money to provide basic supplies for their students. Currently, Worcester County Public Schools have 46% of their student population coming from homes of poverty.
WCPS is blessed to have committed teachers who see this and try to combat the problem. In an effort to help with chronic absences at his school, a teacher started a morning program for at risk youth where they learn how to cook a healthy breakfast, have access to showers and supplies so they can start their day clean, and through this he built a community of students who were not only ready to focus on learning, but they felt seen.
This is just one of the many programs that our Teacher Grants support within our schools. With your help we hope to expand.
