Investing in the Arts - Investing in Our Community - The Worcester County Arts Council

For 50 years, the Worcester County Arts Council (WCAC) has been at the heart of cultural life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We believe the arts are not just for some, but for everyone — they inspire creativity, foster community connections, and open doors to opportunity. With the generous support of donors, WCAC continues to create programs that make the arts accessible, meaningful, and transformative.

Why Your Support Matters Every gift to WCAC makes a direct impact in Worcester County. Your contribution helps us:

  • Bring Free Public Arts Experiences to All
Through our Community Arts Development Grants, we fund local groups to present concerts, performances, workshops, and festivals — always free and open to the public. Your support ensures that no one is left out of the joy of experiencing the arts.
  • Inspire the Next Generation
WCAC’s Arts in Education program brings artists into Worcester County schools, giving students hands-on experiences that nurture creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. We also provide After-School Art Programs and our popular Summer Arts Camp, where hundreds of children explore visual and performing arts while discovering the beauty and traditions of life on the Eastern Shore.
  • Support Young Talent
Each year, our Arts Scholarship program helps graduating seniors pursue higher education in the arts. Donors make it possible for these students to chase their dreams and become the next generation of artists, educators, and cultural leaders.
  • Celebrate the Plein Air Tradition
Our annual Plein Air Event invites artists from across the region to paint Worcester County’s landscapes, towns, and waterways in open air. The event not only celebrates our community’s natural beauty, but also draws residents and visitors together to enjoy art in action — culminating in public exhibits and awards. Your support keeps this beloved tradition alive and growing.
  • Showcase Local Artists
Our free Gallery in Berlin highlights the work of local and regional artists, providing them with an accessible platform to exhibit and sell their art. Our art exhibits and opening receptions bring the community together to celebrate creativity. We also expand these opportunities through curated exhibits at the Berlin Library Gallery.
  • Ensure Access for All
WCAC is committed to reaching underserved communities with programs that break down barriers to participation. Your support strengthens our advocacy and expands outreach so that everyone in Worcester County can experience the power of the arts.

Be Part of Something Lasting! When you support the Worcester County Arts Council, you’re not just giving to an organization — you’re investing in a stronger, more vibrant community. Together, we can ensure that the arts continue to thrive, inspire, and bring people together for generations to come.

We invite you to join us in this mission. Your generosity fuels creativity, uplifts our community, and makes the arts accessible to all.
