Individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s feel disconnected from the world around them. When we are isolated we wonder does anyone want to hear our stories? Music speaks right to our heart and our human experience. We all have stories to tell and music brings them to light. This is also true for CAREGIVERS, which is why Stories Love Music developed a program just for caregivers, "The Joy of Creative Engagement for Caregivers", a program for professional and family caregivers who care for individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. This program has also been utilized by recreational directors, nurses, home health aides, and all those who work in memory care communities.
For over 10 years, Stories Love Music has provided caregivers with the creative tools to manage the challenging behaviors of those they care for, as well as attend to their own stress management and self-care. Stories Love Music has empathy for the caregiver and created The Joy of Creative Engagement program using the interdisciplinary field of neuroarts to care for the caregivers.

Stories Love Music celebrates both music and story telling traditions in our history and their positive effects on emotional and physical health of our individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Reduce anxiety and depression of caregivers and individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Explore connection between music, storytelling and emotional health.
Support caregivers in managing the reactive emotions of the individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s they care for and themselves.
Provide caregivers tools for their own self-care and their caregiving which prevents long term burnout.
Creative engagement is a proven, evidence-based method used widely, reaching caregivers to provide tools for self-care, stress management and handling the most challenging behaviors.
Operational and Program Funding. Each group of caregivers and health care workers we serve, has a personalized program delivery adapted to accommodate the challenges of their caregiving schedule. They are provided with 8-10 hours of training, materials and refreshments.
