Help and Outreach Point of Entry (H.O.P.E. Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Salisbury, Maryland, dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or financial hardship. Founded on the belief that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and access to basic human needs, H.O.P.E. serves as a trusted resource hub and day shelter for some of the most vulnerable members of our community across Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore.

What We Do

At H.O.P.E., we operate with a holistic approach that blends compassion with practical support. Our services are designed to meet urgent needs while creating opportunities for long-term progress.

Our Impact

Each year, H.O.P.E. serves hundreds of individuals through direct assistance and outreach. Beyond meals and material goods, we offer something even more meaningful — a sense of belonging. For many clients, our staff and volunteers are the first people to greet them by name, listen to their story, and remind them that change is possible. Our success is measured not only in the number of people served but, in the lives transformed — a client who secures a new ID after years without one, someone who receives emergency dental treatment and smiles without pain, or a guest who finds safe shelter after sleeping outdoors. Every interaction, meal, and conversation contributes to the restoration of dignity and hope.

Our Philosophy

We believe in treating every person with compassion, without judgment, and with the understanding that homelessness and poverty are symptoms of larger systemic challenges — not personal failures. H.O.P.E. exists to bridge the gap between immediate crisis and lasting stability. Our staff includes trained Community Health Workers, crisis specialists, and volunteers who approach service through trauma-informed care and cultural humility. By meeting individuals where they are — emotionally, physically, and geographically — we are able to build trust and guide them toward sustainable progress.

Community Collaboration

H.O.P.E. is proud to work alongside an ever-growing network of partners, including health departments, hospitals, local churches, civic organizations, and state-funded initiatives. Through these collaborations, we are able to leverage limited resources for maximum impact. Our Faith Partners Network, local business sponsors, and individual donors make it possible to provide consistent, high-quality care at no cost to clients.

Giving Activity

Mission

H.O.P.E. Inc. strives to serve as an access point for low-income, at-risk individuals. We meet people where they are and provide assistance and resources to improve their health, safety and well-being. We believe everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion without prejudice.
