Friends of Assateague State Park was formed and designated as a nonprofit in the year 2000 to support Assateague State Park. FOASP continues to be an organization of volunteers without paid staff. FOASP has received donations dropped in donations boxes or given at programs ever since. Donations made in memory or honor of a loved one can now be directed to an area within Assateague State Park. As a nonprofit, FOASP has also applied for and received several grants.

A one year membership to FOASP will be given for any donation amount $10 or over. Or membership can be obtained by contacting Friends of Assateague State Park at FOASPmembers@gmail.com. An annual membership provides the member with 4 email newsletters per year. Local organizations and businesses are encouraged to join also.
The mission of the Friends of Assateague State Park shall be to enhance the already established state park known as Assateague State Park with physical, financial and outreach programs.
