Our Current Needs
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our families and community, recent fundraisers made it possible for us to build an entirely new playground—now a beloved space used daily for learning, growth, and joyful play.
Our next goal is to enhance this space by adding hanging cantilevered sun shades to provide essential shade coverage during outdoor playtime. These shades will help keep children safe from the sun, cool the equipment, and ensure outdoor learning remains comfortable throughout the year.
The cost for purchasing and installing these shades is approximately $25,000.
Your support helps us continue creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for every child. Thank you for helping us take this important next step in improving our outdoor space.
About Asbury Child Development Center
Our hardworking, knowledgeable staff truly believes in each and every child that comes through our doors. Built on a foundation of love, support, and meaningful relationships, ACDC has welcomed families for over sixty years—many of whom return year after year to be part of our warm, joyful preschool community.
Our purpose is to provide a secure, loving, and stimulating environment where children ages two through kindergarten can develop social and mental skills through structured activities, play, and exploration.
Every day, our students are engaged, motivated, and actively participating in a variety of hands-on learning experiences. Our classrooms are equipped with technology, learning resources, and abundant materials designed to spark curiosity and support growth.
Asbury Child Development Center is a community ministry of Asbury United Methodist Church, open to all persons regardless of race, national origin, or economic circumstance. Guided by Christian values and coordinated through the Church’s Leadership Team and the ACDC Board of Directors, our work reflects a belief in God’s unconditional care for all children.
Purpose
Our purpose is to nurture children ages 2 through Kindergarten in a secure, loving, and stimulating environment where they can develop social and mental skills without undue academic pressure—all at a reasonable cost to families.
Philosophy
While ACDC does not provide formal religious instruction, we recognize that even young children are spiritual beings. Our concern for their moral and spiritual development is woven into daily activities that encourage social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Teachers and children are not required to be members of the Church.
Limited Sessions Per Week
ACDC was designed as a part-time preschool rather than full-time childcare. From our inception, we have offered a gradual progression of weekly sessions to gently prepare children for the five full school days expected in Kindergarten and First Grade.
Learning Through Play
We believe play is one of the most powerful tools for learning. Our schedule incorporates ample opportunities for children to explore, imagine, experiment, and communicate. Through hands-on activities and guided discovery, each child can grow in confidence and understanding.
Relaxed Atmosphere
We strive to provide a relaxed, supportive environment where children can develop at their own pace and learn to:
Value themselves as worthwhile persons in the sight of God
Feel comfortable with adults and peers
Understand the world around them
Discover joy and satisfaction in learning
Christian Values
Christian values—such as reverence, thankfulness, generosity, and sharing—are nurtured through holiday observances, minister’s story time, group interactions, nature exploration, prayer before snack, and respect for the diverse faith traditions represented among our families.
Our purpose is to provide a secure and loving, yet stimulating environment and structured activities in which children ages 2 years through Kindergarten can develop appropriate social and mental skills without undue academic pressure, and do so at a reasonable cost to parents.
Thanks to the generosity of our families, friends, and community, recent fundraisers have allowed us to transform our outdoor space with a brand-new playground—now one of the most loved and used areas at Asbury Child Development Center. The children enjoy it daily, and it has quickly become a treasured spot for learning, play, and community connection.
As we continue improving this space, our next priority is to ensure that every child can safely enjoy outdoor playtime throughout the year. To do this, we hope to add hanging cantilevered sun shades to provide essential shade coverage on the playground. These shades will help protect students from the sun, keep equipment cool, and create a more comfortable environment for active, imaginative play.
The cost for purchasing and installing these sun shades is approximately $25,000.
Your support brings us one step closer to giving our children a safer, more enjoyable outdoor space—one where they can learn, explore, and grow in comfort. Thank you for helping us continue to build a joyful and nurturing environment for every child who walks through our doors.
