4STEPS Therapeutic Riding Program

4STEPS Therapeutic Riding Program provides a safe and nurturing environment for both our horses and riders. We believe that building strong bonds between horse and rider is key to achieving success in and out of the saddle. 

Therapeutic and Recreational Riding are forms of exercise therapy that is fun, safe, challenging and socially rewarding. The goals revolve around learning horsemanship and improving basic riding skills. In therapeutic riding special attention is paid to facilitating improvements in muscle strength, coordination, balance, stamina, self- confidence and social interaction.

Specially designed unmounted equine assisted activities precipitate experiential learning and self-exploration. Petting, grooming, feeding, playing games and taking walks with the horses and doing artwork and crafts are challenges for some and excitement for all. Participants absorb the peace and natural beauty of the farm in its Eastern Shore setting. Many individuals and groups bring brown bag lunches and play corn hole or horseshoes while they’re here. Time with the horses and staff at 4STEPS enhances the daily life of an individual with a disability. 

We offer a range of programs that cater to the needs of our students. Our programs are flexible and can be tailored to suit individual requirements. We also offer private lessons for those who prefer one-on-one instruction.
