The Calvin B. Taylor House Museum, managed by the Berlin Heritage Foundation, is a favorite stop for community members and visiting tourists alike. Our mission is education with an emphasis on preserving the cultural history and historic integrity of Berlin and the surrounding area through tours, field trips, free events, and virtual tours, partnering with various foundations and organizations across Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Built in 1832 for Isaac Covington and his family, this gable-fronted, Federal-style house serves as a Town museum of local history. The main block of the house is furnished with period pieces while the west wing gallery features exhibits and displays of local memorabilia that tell the stories of Berlin.
The Museum hosts a variety of free events to share the house and lawn with the community, including the Peach Festival in August, our free 2nd Sunday at the Museum in June - September with musicians, speakers, films, and authors. October holds our Book Festival, showcasing local publishers and authors while collecting oral histories.
The purpose of the Berlin Heritage Foundation is education with an emphasis on preserving the cultural history and historic integrity of Berlin and the surrounding area.
